What Is Art | Call For Artists

What is art in the 21st century? What Makes It Valuable?

The discourse on the nature of art in the 21st century has never been more intriguing. While some creators remain firmly rooted in the traditions of their craft, others boldly venture into uncharted territories, invoking a constant debate around the central question - What Is Art? What makes it valuable?

In the modern art world, it's evident that success doesn't adhere to a single style or approach. The diverse paths taken by some of the world's most renowned and affluent artists underscore the idea that every unique style of art can become valuable.

32nd Annual Emerald Coast National Juried Art Exhibition

The Emerald Coast National (ECN) is a juried exhibition held annually at Mattie Kelly Art Center Galleries, Northwest Florida State College. What began as a regional show has evolved into far-reaching, exciting programming of a range of media styles by emerging to established artists reflecting what they are doing in the world today. ECN is a show that people travel to see and a program that locals look forward to all year! We leave the theme open and publicize the call on known artist platforms. We invite all art styles, materials, mediums, etc.—including sound art, kinetic art, sculpture, photography, video, design, craft, and even performance if you can provide documentation for the application.

The Nature of Home: Taking Root in a Place

A Space Gallery is pleased to announce the open call for "The Nature of Home: Taking Root in a Place" aimed at sparking dialogue on the dynamic relationship between individuals and their environments. "Home" is redefined not as a static noun but as an active verb: the process of cultivating connections with places and people that shape our identities. Understanding the enduring relationship between self and place transforms "home" into "where you are at every moment." This profoundly Zen state arises from the mind's integration with the continuous flow of the universe, transcending the limitations of time and space. Are roots, or deep embeddedness, determined more by our physical and emotional origins than by the geographical location of our hometown?

Open Call for our inaugural exhibition, "Light"

It's our pleasure to invite you to our first 2-month long exhibition.

Our inaugural exhibition, "Light," marks the dawn of a new era in art exploration. But don't let our title mislead you; it's not just about illuminated artwork (although your work can be). Instead, "Light" symbolises the beginning of a journey, a celebration of new beginnings, and the boundless potential of artistic expression.

We can't wait to see your work.
